I love this book, I am new to gardening and just moved from a flat with no garden to a house with a little garden and didn't really have a clue what I should be doing. This book has been great, it talks you through every month of the year and has helped me to plan ahead. It has been a real help to me and it is very easy to read with nice pictures. I have just bought one for my friend who is moving into her first house with a garden.

Love this book. Borrowed it from the library but had to buy my own copy. So much information, and good intelligent content. Consult regularly just to check in doing things at the right time. E.g. Pruning, seed sowing, cuttings, Best time to add fertilisers & compost etc.

In other words I'm useless at gardening but on furlough with nothing else to do I started tinkering in the garden and voila - tomatoes, peas, chillis and herbs are everywhere now. This book is beautiful and full of information for starters. Each month talks you through what you need to do. Very, very happy!

I once borrowed an older edition of this book from the library and I quickly realised how indispensable it was. Lots of brilliant information laid out by month and hundreds of helpful ideas. it is great for someone like me who is relatively new to gardening and needs a reminder of what needs to be done each month. It has also helped me select suitable plants for the garden because it suggests what is at its best each month. This new edition appears to have most of the same information but the book is a lot smaller than the original in terms of page size. As a result some of the content has been removed or reduced. In particular some of the figures (images) have been taken out of the book. This was a little bit disappointing hence the four stars but it is still an excellent reference and the smaller page size does make the book easier to read.
